So finally something out of the horse world to showcase! Though I do love working with horsey people it is nice to show off something different. I have had the pleasure over the last few months working with an old friend who is setting up his building business.
I love projects when I am involved right from the start! Garret, Katie (his partner) and I all sat down and brainstormed possible names over a few nights. We complied a long list and were after something that had personality but still professional. Garret came up with the goods, “Straight Up Builders,” which exemplifies Garret’s honest nature, suggests building while remaining professional.
We then moved onto designing a logo, Garret was keen on framework to be included in the logo. So I ended up choosing a tall, hand crafted font and stacking the name into a window frame. I learnt all about framing, studs and knogs! And even created our own woodgrain which was pretty exciting! In the end depending on whether its a business card, letterhead, web banner or flyer these proportions define how the logo is displayed. 
It was a great design opportunity to set up all Straight Up Builder’s print and web material. Design work included: business cards printed by printing.com North Shore, letterhead, email signature, promotional flyer, signage for ute applied by the super sign writing company SCS Signage, a website built and facebook page design sorted.
So if your in the Auckland or potentially Tauranga (Garret and Katie are moving down there end of September) give them a call or email as he is about as straight up as they come and highly recommended!
